How trust works here

What we check, what we don't, and what happens to your messages.

Every listing is reviewed

A person reads every enrollment before it goes live. We check that the form is filled in, that the description and photo are appropriate, and that it is a real mental health or wellness service. Nothing is approved automatically.

We do not check credentials. We do not interview anyone, ask for a licence number, or confirm what a provider says about their training, experience, or fees. Look up a provider's licence yourself before starting care. Most states have a free online lookup.

The Verified badge

Verified

A listing with this badge went through a check with the person who enrolled it. We confirmed three things:

  • Their government photo ID matches the name on the listing.
  • They hold the licence or credential the listing claims.
  • That licence is active in the registry that issued it.

We do not check years of experience, insurance panels, or fees. Those are the provider's own claims.

We never see your messages

Chat, voice and video go straight from your browser to the provider's, encrypted the whole way. We run no chat server and store no messages. There is nothing on our side to read or hand over.

The same goes for searching. What you type into the Wellness Shadchan is matched inside your browser and never sent to us. Saved listings stay on your device.

How the private chat works

Chat and video use WebRTC, the technology already built into your browser for video calls. The connection runs straight from your browser to the provider's browser.

Two browsers cannot find each other on their own, so three outside services help start the connection:

  • PeerJS introduces the two browsers to each other. It sees a randomly generated ID for each one, plus the technical setup messages between them. It does not see who you are or anything you say.
  • Google STUN and Cloudflare STUN tell each browser what its public address on the internet is, so the two can find a route to each other. They see your IP address and nothing else.

Everything after that goes directly to the provider, encrypted: your messages, your voice, your video. It does not pass through us or through any of the services above.

HIPAA. Nothing you type reaches us, so we never hold health information and have nothing to protect or disclose. Providers still need to make sure their own device and browser meet their obligations.
